About Me

I’m Gabby Garza — a first‑generation performer forged by the vivid, relentless energy of a small South Texas border town. The music, food, and stories of my community were my first teachers; they taught me how narrative lives in sound and how a single song can hold a lifetime of memory. My earliest stage was the family table at Olive Garden, belting “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” with unabashed joy — the moment I knew performing was more than a pastime; it was my calling.

I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from a university in Pittsburgh, and I carry that achievement with fierce pride as the first person in my family to graduate college. While there I translated classroom technique into main‑stage work, performing as “Mimi” in RENT, “Angela Prysock” in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, a lead vocalist (Barbara Cook track) in Sondheim on Sondheim, and “Carmen Bernstein” in Curtains. Those roles sharpened my craft and deepened my commitment to truthful, emotionally driven performance.

After graduation I returned home to save, regroup, and refine my focus. With that foundation secured, I moved to New York City to pursue the career I’d always imagined. I now live, train, and audition in the city — balancing classes and work while building a life onstage. Most recently I appeared at The Grange Theatre as “Penelope Pennywise” in Urinetown; since that contract I’ve been back in the city, continuing my training and seeking work that resonates.

Being here is both a blessing and a responsibility. I am committed to honoring my roots and the community that raised me by bringing authenticity, heart, and bold storytelling to every role I take on.
